I'm an assistant professor at the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, where I teach and research how news sites can better reach their audiences. I received my Ph.D. from the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri where I was one of the founding editors of MyMissourian.com, a citizen journalism site for Columbia, Mo. Before graduate school, I worked as a community newspaper editor in Southern Utah and Southern California.

Premier of Scripps London 2012 mini documentary tomorrow

After I took 15 students to the Olympics in the summer of 2012, I interviewed a few of them hoping to put together a short video about their experience. I wanted to showcase the awesome work they did and celebrate their achievements.

It has been almost 18 months since we got home, but I finally have put something together. It’s not as long I had hoped, but I think I have four solid minutes that encapsulate our experience pretty well. I made it for the Scripps College of Communication: Engaging the World event tomorrow, but I thought I’d premier it here early.

If you are interested in attending the event tomorrow, it begins at noon in the Walter Hall Rotunda. This is part of the university’s international education week which began Nov. 12 and runs through Saturday, with the international dinner at 6 p.m.

I still have a ton of additional footage plus copies of the videos students produced in London that I’d like to compile, and hopefully it won’t take me another 18 months. If any of the other students that went to London want to be interviewed, email or DM me on Twitter.
